CQiNet
Linking Ham Radio Via the Internet

*** I have discontinued work on this since Steven Palm N9YTY, released his application EchoMac ***

I have left the original page (below), in case someone may find some of my initial work interesting. I believe that the thebridge stuff may still be relevant.

What is CQiNet?
CQiNet is a family of programs that combine Ham Radio with the Internet using Voice over IP (VoIP) technology. Two programs are currently in the family, "theBridge" and echoLinux.

Thebridge is a iLink/EchoLink compatable conference bridge that runs under various versions of Unix as well as Windows.

EchoLinux is a EchoLink client program for the Linux operating system.

The CQiNet project can be found at: http://cqinet.sourceforge.net

Why the page?
So why this page when wb6ymh has done such a good job at the SourceForge site? This site will explicitly deal with the OSX port of his great application. I hope to develop an OSX gui for the client program as well as OSX specific things like startup scripts and even a binary installer. Of course this will all be released under the GPL and I will submit all my enhancements to the build process to the CQiNet group for inclusion into the distribution.

What are the current challenges:

  • Get the configure to recognize the OSX OS. Currently the work around is to use '--host=Darwin'. Click here to see my latest config attempt.
  • Fix the errors during the make. Click here to see the output.

Milestones:
  • 2/5/03 - thebridge runs under OSX!
  • 2/6/03 - basic startup script is working
  • 2/7/03 - startup scripts done. Download here
  • 2/7/03 - logging issue resolved.
