RoverLog

by dr last modified 2007-01-19 07:07 AM

As of Roverlog version 2.4.2 and OS X 10.4 there is no reason to have an OS X standalone application. To run Roverlog download it from: http://www.2ub.org/roverlog/d.html. Make sure you grab the non-Windows version (currently rl-2_4_2-nonwin.zip). If you download it with Safari it will automatically expand the zip archive and you will have a folder called rl-2_4_2-nonwin. I suggest renaming that folder Roverlog and placing it in your Applications folder.

To run Roverlog open a terminal window. You can find the terminal program in Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal. Once a window is open type in the following:
cd /Applications/Roverlog
wish inied.tcl

Follow the instructions in Tom's fine manual regarding coniguring your default settings. Once done quit inied.tcl and launch Roverlog with the command:
wish roverlog.tcl

There are a few default settings built into Roverlog for OS X. One in particular is the serial port settings. Depending on what kind of usb to serial adapter you have it might be necessary to change the port name. By default it selects a Keyspan model USA19QW usb to serial adapter named /dev/cu.USA19QW11P1.1. If you don't know the name of your serial adapter you can find it by typing the following command in a terminal window: ls /dev |grep cu.

There will be more info to come. If you have a quesstions in the interm don't hesitate to drop me an email.
